Brisbane Festival, a major international arts festival admired by the world is set. Expect brilliant exponents of cabaret, circus, dance, film, music, opera, theatre, visual arts as well as high-energy and innovative performances from September 5 to 26 as this year’s festival promises to blow your mind.
With a number of programs lined up for three whole weeks, surely something will catch your eye. Why not start with Arcadia, a fantastic Festival Village in the Cultural Forecourt, South Bank and your passport to the festival paradise?
Arcadia has many free events prepared day to night one of which is the Brisbane Airport 3D Chalk Walk. Watch Jenny McCracken, the most highly-awarded pavement artist in Australia, Amelia Batchelor and Dom Intelisano bring their artworks to life on September 5 to 25 from 2pm to 5.30pm. Get your picture taken or let your kids join the chalk art workshops. You can also visit the RAPcity and watch the best hip hop and break dancers compete for $5,000 cash from 2pm – 5.30pm.
Also in the Cultural Forecourt, you’ll find two big performance tents set and ready to take visitors to two marvelous worlds of entertainment – Club Swizzle and Fear and Delight. From the creators of La Soirée, Club Swizzle showcases air-defying acrobatics and infectious musical revelry while Fear and Delight from award-winning makers of LIMBO presents a new world of visual and edible wonderment. Or, step inside the Theatre Republic, a Festival hub in Kelvin Grove on September 08 to 26 and share artist discussions, ideas, food, wine, and music with fellow festival goers. Take note that every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7pm and 9pm is free Artist Chats at the Theatre Republic Garden Bar which will be run by Wandering Cooks during the festival.
