All-time boxing great, Manny Pacquiao, will go against Brisbane’s own, Jeff Horn, on April 23 in the biggest fight in Australian history.
Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, has confirmed that Horn, Brisbane’s “Fighting Schoolteacher” will be facing Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight title with Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium as the preferred venue.
There are plans to have the fight on a Sunday lunchtime bout in Australia for a Saturday night primetime viewing experience in the US. The fight will be televised to 159 countries and will be a pay-per-view event in Australia.
Horn said he has always dreamt about getting a world title and now, his dreams are slowly edging closer to reality with each day that passes as he gets closer to his fight with Pacquiao.
The Filipino fighter, Pacquiao, has been fighting for 22 years and has won 11 world titles across eight weight divisions. This fight will be truly inspiring – one of the greatest boxers in history fighting a young man who is a schoolteacher by profession and a role model for young Australians.
Jeff Horn is also an Olympian. This fight aims to promote the upcoming Commonwealth Games as well.
